Hilltop Goliath outmuscles the rest

Kenny Pratt’s Hilltop Goliath led the trade at the Solway and Tyne Texel Club’s sale, Carlisle, when selling at 90,000gns.

Sired by the 28,000gns Auldhouseburn Fancy Pants who has already bred lambs to 100,00gns this year and out of a dam by Sportsmans Chieftain, he had stood champion in the pre-sale show and was taken in a two-way split by John Forsyth, Glenside and Alan Balckwood, Auldhouseburn.

Second best at 30,000gns was Auldhouseburn Grey-Goose from Alan Balckwood, with this one being by the 50,000gns Okehall Fireball and out of an Allanfauld-bred dam by Garngour Yeltsin. He was the pick of James Theyer, Clanfield and George Oare, Coach House.

Then making 12,000gns was Okehall Golden Balls from Mike Turner. This Haymount Earth Wind and Fire son is out of a Charben Babe Magnet daughter and is a full brother to the 50,000gns Fireball. He sold in the three-way split to Gary Beacom, Lakeview, Andrew Kennedy, Maineview and Martin and Cyril Millar, Millar’s.


Okehall Golden Balls, 12,000gns

Another at the same money was Robert Evans’ Hope Valley Giant, an Auldhouseburn Freaky Friday son out of a dam by Sportsmans Desert Star. This one was also taken in a shared deal with half going to the Nicholson family’s Knockem flock and half to Nick Woodmass, Harene.

Close behind at 10,000gns was Teigulm Goldstar from Andrew Clark. He’s by Tullnasoo Funtime and out of a dam by Knock Eastwood. Selling with an index in the top 10% of the breed, he was shared by Andrew Fyffe, Fairywater, John and Richard Currie, Tullagh and Declan McGurren, Oughterard.

Next best after that was an 8000gns call for Hexel Get Lucky from Donald and Sarah MacPherson. This Ballynahone Franco son is out of a Rhaeadr Entrepreneur-sired mother and was the pick of Keith and Andrew Campbell, Overburns.

Then came a 6000gns sale for Allanfauld Godolphin from the MacGregor family. He’s by Mossknowe Focus and out of a dam by Knockem Concorde and sold to Messrs Owens, Aberhafesp.

A 5500gns sale saw Andrew Neilson trade Brackenridge Gino, an Allanfauld Flaming Star son out of a dam by Knock Yardsman. He found a new home with R and J Plant, Bromley.

Kerr Jarvie then took 5000gns for Duncryne Geronimo. Sired by Stainton Foundation, he is out of a dam by Scholars Dynamite and was knocked down to David Dunlop for the Holtridge flock.

At the same money was Knap Grand Master from Robert Cockburn, with this Haddo Fabio son being out of a Sportsmans Deal Breaker daughter from the Daisy Duke family. He was split five ways by Peter Woof, Stainton, Nick Woodmass, Harene, Robert Pierce, Oldfield, Messrs Bradley, Far Hey and Spiros Spyrou, Gib Farm.

Shearling rams

Topping the shearling ram trade at 16,000gns was Craigdarroch Flint from Ruaridh and Isla Graham. This son of Cornmore Diamond is out of a Clinterty Yuga Khan daughter and sold to the Kermode family, Orrisdale.

Duhonw Flash from Michael James and family followed him at 5500gns, with this being a Whitehart A Lister son out of a dam by Garngour Awesome. He joined the Messrs Smith and Son, Sinnahard Glenkirdie.

Then at 4800gns was Whitehart First Choice from Jim and Nicola Hartwright. He’s by the homebred Whitehart Big Style and out of a dam by Cherryvale Shergar and sold to Messrs Priestley, Brontemoor.

The same buyers then paid 4200gns for Halbeath Fast-Track from Robin and Caroline Orr. He’s by the 32,000gns Caron Dynamite and out of a Halbeath BMX daughter.

At the same price was the first prize shearling from the pre-sale show, Brijon Flashman from Jonathan Watson. Sired by Loosebeare Digger, he is out of a Midlock Youre The One daughter and was shared by Tom Vaughan, Vaughan and Ed Samuel, Hendre.

Four then followed that at 4000gns. First of these was Whitehart Finest from the Hartwrights. He’s by Auldhouseburn Domino and out of a Whitehart All About Meat daughter and was taken by Pilkington Farmers, Hartington.

Next at this money was Loosebeare Favourite from the Quick family. He’s by the homebred Loosebeare Chief out of a dam by Brijon Youre The Boy. This one sold to Stephen Cobbald, Lavenham

Another at 4000gns was the very next in the ring, Loosebeare F2. He’s by Brijon Deal Breaker and out of a dam by Sportsmans Bulletproof and headed away with Matthew Fear, Felton.

The final call at this level was Duhonw Flaming Hot from Michael James and family. This one is by Meinspride Usain and out of a dam by Garngour Awesome and sold to Phil Weaver, Empire.

Females

Top call in the females was a 2200gns bid for a gimmer from the MacGregor family’s Allanfauld flock, XMM2223555. She’s by Claybury Dunkirk and out of a dam by Knockem Concorde and was taken by Cameron Jackson, Fern Gully

Close behind at 2000gns was a Knap gimmer from Robert Cockburn, CKP2206734. This New View Electrifying daughter is out of a dam by Mullan Amigo and headed home with Gary Scott, Byn-Y-Coed.

A trio then made 1800gns, the first of which was IJS2206985 from Jim Innes. She’s a Cressage Enforcer daughter out of a dam by Strathbogie Yes Sir and was another bought by Cameron Jackson.

The others at this price were a paid from Mike Turner, Okehall, with both selling to Messrs Fawcett, Bishopdale.

The first of these was TMO2209279, a Haymount Earth Wind And Fire daughter out of a Drumbreddan Centre Or Attention daughter.

The second was TMO2209280. She’s also by Earth Wind And Fire, this time being out of a dam by Strathbogie Boombastic.
